BOS SHELF LLC.
PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE
BOS Shelf is the company formed by Star Gulf FZCO (company of SAIPEM Group and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), who are represented in the partnership by Baku Deep Water Jackets Factory (BDOZ).
In November 2001, BOSShelf was awarde a contract by AIOC for construction of two (2) deep water jackets for Central Azeri field, which was the first phase of the full field development of Azeri, Chirag and Deep Water Guneshli (ACG) oil fields, in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea.
To undertake the Phase 1 works, BOS Shelf carried out extensive refurbishment of the fabrication workshops and erection areas on the BDOZ facility. In addition, training programs created a skilled workforce of Azeri nationals.
To increase local content, BOS Shelf renovated the rolling mill, which created a significant number of jobs for Azeri nationals.
Project Work Achievements
As the result of successful performance in terms of Safety, Quality, Cost and Schedule, BOS Shelf was awarded contracts for construction of four (4) more large jackets and associated structures covering Phase 2 & 3 of the ACG Project.
All phases of the Jacket construction work were carried out ahead of the Project shcdule.
Our Workforce
At peak, personnel of the company consist of approx 1,800 employees. Out of these 95% were Azeri nationals.
BOSS Shelf placed emphasis on training of its personnel in order to bring their skills to international standards. Such training included improvement and development of qualifications of welders and assemblers, in the specialized training schools, created and operated at BDOZ. in addition, a number of courses to develop engineers, accountants, and administration staff were successfully carried out.
Facilities for Our Workforce
BOS SHELF prioritized improvements in working conditionsfor its employees. We have built two brand new amenity blocks, which have training facilities, adlution units and modern office facilities fully conforming to the international standards.
BOS Shelf: Looking to the Future
Phase 3 Jackets hae been successfully delivered ahead of schedule. Early completion has been the continual theme throughout the ACG Project. During the last 3 months of the completion phase, the work force ramained focused and professional which is why BOS Shelf has the reputation as the best performing contractor in the Caspian region.
The ACG project which last 5 years has been an exciting journey for our company. The yard facilities are now world class and together we have built the skills to deliver structures to the highest international standards. We are currently in process of upgrading skidway No. 2 at BDOZ to increase the capacity of the Yard.
Another best was our Safety performance. While achieving a very demanding schedule, we remained focused on our priority to ensure that all worked safelyand remained healthy. We all proud of more than 9 million manhours were expended on the ACG project without a lost time incident.
We anticipate good news on a large project in the near future. Further major projects for AIOC are also on the horizon.
